Industry Veteran Brings Compliance Packaging Experience to National Organization Promoting Role of Packaging in Medication Adherence

WAYNE, NJ – Joe Luke, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Reed-Lane – a New Jersey-based contract packaging provider that serves leading RX, OTC, and generic drug manufacturers – has been named the newest member of the Healthcare Compliance Packaging Council’s (HCPC) Board of Directors.

Joe LukeFor Reed-Lane, whose main areas of focus are blister packaging, bottling, pouching and convenience vial filling, the broad acceptance of compliance packaging is a high priority. The company produces pharmaceutical blister and wallet packages containing calendar features proven to increase user adherence to proper usage.

Pharmaceutical noncompliance is a significant problem in the United States, where an estimated 125,000 Americans die each year due, at least in part, to poor medication adherence. The Healthcare Compliance Packaging Council is a not-for-profit trade association established in 1990 to promote the many benefits of unit-dose packaging and, in particular, the ability for these formats to be designed with compliance-prompting features proven to help patients take their medications properly.

For Mr. Luke, a pharmaceutical packaging industry veteran who has been with Reed-Lane for six years, the appointment comes not only as a validation of the company’s known compliance packaging expertise, but also his own. Joe leads the company’s sales and marketing team and has been instrumental in readying the company for the future in such areas as serialization as well as compliance packaging.

“Over the last several years, Reed-Lane has made a concerted effort to expand and hone our capabilities in all areas including the compliance packaging sector, which continues to be among the industry’s fastest-growing specialties,” said Patricia Elvin, President of Reed-Lane. “Joe has been at the forefront of these efforts from their inception, and will make a valuable addition to the Board of Directors of the HCPC, whom we at Reed-Lane thank for this exciting opportunity.”
